This legend is still able to crack some hilarious jokes.
Ever since 1990 when I first had myself in stitches whilst watching her in ‘Ghost,’ I have been a huge fan of Whoopi Goldberg. Her vast career includes the lovely, but testing Spielberg movie ‘The Colour Purple.’ Her Oscar came for the supporting role in Ghost but this led to opportunities to headline in such hits as ‘Sister Act’ and ‘Made in America.’
Before all of this, she had begun doing Stand Up comedy in American clubs. I was lucky enough to check out her one-off night at the London Palladium last February and it was brilliant fun!
Her career is scattered with movie moments, guest appearances and three times being host of the Academy Awards. She also had a regular gig on Star Trek. Nowadays she is best known as being the main host of the American version of Loose Women, known as ‘The View.’ Her voice is heard on issues related with political life and she especially has plenty to say about Donald Trump.
Many characters owe their voices to her, including the hyena from ‘The Lion King.’ She can seemingly turn her hand to anything but she has definitely reignited her taste for stand up. She now returns this October for two nights in England. One is at the Leeds Arena and other at the Hammersmith Apollo.
I am so excited to see her again and soak up her thoughts, reminiscences and repertoire. She has a way of making an everyday event sound really crazy. Her delivery is clever and she recalls things in a way that totally draws you in, just like the most proficient of storytellers. Absolutely belly laugh-inducing hilarity.
