Sunday Dreaming

A Poem

I have a very simple dream,

Nothing complicated or to fear.

I simply want a better world,

No need for fairies to appear.

I don’t expect a miracle

Or to create magic spells.

For me, I’d settle happily

For some water down the wells.

I never asked for millions

Of pounds and bonds within my bank.

Just for better use of transport

Less need for the fuel tank.

I’d rather see wildlife and nature than urban sprawl.

I’m not one to seek fame

Or fortune with its golden glow.

I’d take solar panels and wind turbines

And a return of winter snow.

There is no need for fast cars

As I’d much prefer trams and trains.

Let’s not fly so much in aeroplanes

Then flash flooding won’t fill our drains.

My beloved Fens should stay dry and cool

Not tropical and flooded.

Instead of fields torn down for houses,

I’d much rather they were wooded.
