Easter Poem

Easter is here

Children delight

In chocolate eggs hidden

Just out of sight.

Spring is a springing,

The clocks have now changed.

Hot cross buns sitting waiting

Butter, jam – all arranged.

Bunnies are jumping

While egg hunts take place.

Finding the most eggs

Is a greedy old chase.

But does anyone remember

Why Easter even takes place?

Don’t ask me, I’m busy

Stuffing my face.

The origin of Easter

Is often forgot.

Just so long as we’ve chocolate,

We’ll gobble the lot.

Often when I ask students about the meaning of Easter, they get sidetracked with the commercial bits. Instead of Jesus and resurrection, they enthuse about chocolate eggs, hot cross buns and Easter bunnies.

Thank you for taking the time to read my silly Easter poem. Please consider checking out another recent poem about Friday.

PS – And yes I used the same rhyme twice, for effect.

Easter Feeling

Easter weekend,

Finally here,

Warmer weather,

Full of cheer.

Get together,

Have some fun,

Eat some chocolate,

Everyone.

Chocolate eggs

And Easter rabbits

Hot cross buns

And Easter magic.

When I was young,

I liked Easter best.

Put my chocolate eating

To the test.

Munch through Creme eggs,

Mini eggs too.

Fill my belly,

Till I’m through.

Then wallow in

My chocolate high.

Wave my family

A fond goodbye.

Spend a week

Still feeding on choc.

Waiting for next Easter

Watching the clock.

I wrote this fun poem in response to a friend asking me how I felt about Easter. My gut instinct was that I much prefer it to Christmas. Maybe this stems from the fact that I absolutely love chocolate.

I am not fond of all of the hype that goes with Christmas but Easter is very self-contained. It comes and goes quickly and is full of chocolate. What’s not to like?

Thank you for taking the time to read my silly Easter Feeing poem. I hope that you eat lots of chocolate (possible dairy free) this weekend and for the following days. Easter is a great excuse to abandon healthy diets for a few days and treat ourselves.

Almost Easter – Poem

I thought that I would write a little Easter poem to get everybody in the mood.

Nearly Easter

Almost here

Plenty to do

This time of year.

Lots of chocolate

All around

People hunting

On the ground.

Looking for eggs

Bunnies and sweets

Easter is full

Of super sweet treats.

Easter holidays

Time for a rest

Be good to yourself

Live life to your best!

I woke up this morning thinking about having two weeks off in the run up to Easter. This brief poem sums up my newfound optimism. Tomorrow I am going to Edinburgh to get myself in the mood for a year of adventure, after two years of not really going anywhere.

I hope that everyone has some restful plans this Easter. Hopefully we have turned a corner and things are looking up. For a previous, more thought-provoking poem of mine check out We need a world poem.

Happy Easter! Thank you for taking the time to read my Easter poem. Please follow my blog for future similar content.
